feels like home

As a little kid, my parents bought me the Michael Jackson Thriller album (on vinyl! CDs didn’t exist yet!) and I loved it so much that I immediately donated it to the library. I just HAD to share it. It was too good to keep to myself. That has turned out to be just who I am. I like to share the books I read, the things I love, the way I see the world.

I’m a sharer. I was meant to share. Michael Jackson records, pictures of my neighbor’s cat, my baby smashing the kitchen cabinets to test the child locks, all of it. I love being online and sharing my stuff and I love that you all do it too.

I love seeing your kids go back to school and learn how to swim. I love seeing your birthday celebrations and dinner parties. I love seeing what you’re thinking about and being able to like and comment my way through my feed.

I know that reliance on these platforms managed by Someone Else like Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, Twitter, and even Substack is not sustainable. These spaces grow and change and communities come and go and sometimes they even close down altogether.

I’m getting bored with running from one place to the next and find myself wanting to come back here, where it all began for me. This blog has certainly existed in a few different iterations (livejournal! lifewithroozle!), but it’s always been mine. My place to do whatever I want. My place to archive.

I don’t know what’s next for social media. I hope it all works itself out. I won’t be deleting all of my accounts or locking everything up, but I do hope to spend some more time here. I like it here. I always have. It feels like home. It’s good to be back.
